Frequently Asked Questions
Here are commonly asked questions about Direct Primary Care and what to expect from your membership with us
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a healthcare model that simplifies the patient-doctor relationship by removing insurance companies from the equation. Patients pay an affordable monthly membership fee that grants them unlimited access to their primary care provider for routine visits, preventive care, chronic disease management, and more. At NorthShore DPC, we are proud to offer this patient-centered approach to care.
In traditional healthcare, doctors often see a large volume of patients to manage the complexities of insurance billing. This can result in rushed appointments and limited access. At NorthShore DPC, the focus is on quality, not quantity.
By eliminating insurance, we can offer:
*Longer appointment times
*Same-day or next-day availability
*Direct communication with your doctor (via text, phone, or email)
*Transparent pricing with no copays or hidden fees
No, DPC is not health insurance. While DPC covers many primary care services, we recommend that patients maintain a separate insurance plan for emergencies, hospitalizations, or specialist visits. Think of DPC as a complement to your insurance, providing enhanced primary care while insurance handles catastrophic or specialty needs.
Yes, a Direct Primary Care (DPC) membership subscription fee can typically be paid for using your Health Savings Account (HSA), as long as the services provided through the DPC arrangement qualify as preventive care or medical care.
Since DPC plans generally focus on primary care services like wellness visits, preventive care, chronic disease management, and routine check-ups, these services are often eligible for HSA spending. However, it’s important to consult with your HSA administrator to ensure your specific DPC membership meets the criteria for eligible expenses.
DPC covers primary care visits like:
*Preventive Care & Wellness Visits
*Well Women Exam
*Chronic Disease Management
*Sick Visits
*Basic Diagnostic Testing
*Telehealth/ Virtual Services
